Through its Human Services Information Initiative, HSC ensures that City and State technology initiatives impacting the City's human services sector are carried out in a manner that is responsive to the needs of the sector and the people we serve. The Technology and Referral Committee is responsible for developing and implementing a technology agenda for the human services sector.
This agenda includes:
New York City's human service delivery process can be a fragmented maze for both consumers and service providers to navigate. The services are administered under separate rules and regulations, and serve individuals and members of the same family without inter-agency coordination.
Technology has great potential to measure the outcomes of service delivery, share information about clients who use multiple services, and provide access to needed services. It can also reduce overlapping reporting requirements mandated by the federal, State, and City governments.
Working in partnership with government on the ACCESS NYC, E-311, and other initiatives, HSC is working to address these issues through the use of cutting-edge technology.
